How Do Our Services Work?
Daycare

1. All Dogs Start with a Trial
Every new daycare dog completes a supervised trial to make sure they’re comfortable and safe in group play.
2. Stress Is Taken Seriously
If your dog seems overwhelmed or uncomfortable, we’ll move them to a calmer space and contact you right away.
3. Dogs Can Act Differently Around Other Dogs
Group settings can bring out behaviors you may not see at home. This is normal — they’re dogs doing dog things.
4. Safety Always Comes First
Play is structured and supervised. If group play isn’t the right fit that day, we adjust accordingly.
5. Clear, Honest Communication
If anything changes with your dog’s behavior, comfort, or well-being, we’ll let you know.
Boarding

We Love Your Dogs!
We prioritize our dogs' safety over everything else at Dogwoods Canine Play & Stay. To help us ensure your pup has a great stay, here is some info to help understand!
-
Some dogs can be stressed. We know you know that, but keep in mind that this change in environment can be strange for some dogs (and some dogs just don't mind at all!). Sometimes they may not want to eat, leave their kennel, or even let the pupsitters see them. That's normal! We will do everything we can to encourage your pup to eat, go on a walk, and feel at home.
-
Minor injuries are normal in group settings. Just like dog parks or your dog's last birthday party, playing dogs can get scrapes, bumps, or other minor scuffs. Our pupsitters NEVER leave the dogs unattended while playing, and their focus is on preventing and interrupting any scuffles within seconds.
-
We will keep you informed. If we notice your pup having any signs of behavior change, diarrhea, upset stomach, not eating when they were, etc., we will notify you, and closely monitor their behavior. If it becomes overly concerning, we will contact you and an emergency contact (if provided) to see how you would like to proceed.
-
Not every stay is the right stay, and that's okay! If we feel your dog is overly stressed, not adjusting well, or would be happier at home, we will tell you. Our goal is always your dog’s well-being, not forcing a stay that isn’t working.
-
Owners Accept Inherent Risk. Boarding your dog or leaving them in anyone's care (that isn't yours) means that owners acknowledge that dogs are animals, group environments carry inherent risk, and occasional incidents can occur despite proper supervision and professional care.
Check out our Boarding Page for more tips, prices, and to get ready!
Grooming

Dogwoods Canine Play & Stay has two full-time groomers on site!

Our groomers Rikki & Maddie are always accepting new clients. Some dogs may require more grooming than others (we're looking at you, huskies!).

To ensure you have a great experience, please keep in mind:
-
All of our daycare, boarding, training, and grooming clients check in at reception (under the awning). You may need to wait a few minutes for the first customer to complete their transaction to keep you and the pups safe.
-
We will do our best to perform the grooming services you request, but if your dog becomes aggressive or simply won't let us touch them (it's nothing unusual; trust us!), we will not perform the groom. We will notify you to see how you'd like to proceed.
Training

Onsite Dog Training with Pine & Paws!

At Dogwoods Canine Play & Stay, our Pine & Paws on-site dog training offers personalized, one-on-one sessions with our certified trainer, Jessika Pullen, right here at our facility. Whether your dog is joining us for daycare or a hotel stay, Jessika is available to help build better manners, strengthen obedience skills, and address behavior goals with tailored attention.
We offer flexible session lengths, including 30-minute and full-hour personalized training appointments, designed to fit your dog’s needs and your schedule. With her certification in canine training, behavior, health, and enrichment from the Animal Behavior Institute, you’ll get thoughtful, effective guidance that supports long-term results and a happier, more confident pup.
